Just Say No!

I passed up the muffins at my HR class this morning in favor of fruit
and a cereal bar. Nancy Reagan would be proud.

Did I just date myself with a 1980s reference?

  1. Well done. I have a big problem with breakfast because I don't really like bars, or cereal, or oatmeal. I mean, I like them ok, but I don't love them, and I definitely do not want them more than 1-2 times a week. I do a lot of carnation sugar free instant breakfast in lowfat milk, which is tasty, but not that satisfying.

    Stupid breakfast.

Last night, though - I roasted a spaghetti squash, scraped it out, then sauteed it with a touch of olive oil, a ton of garlic, some sage and some brown sugar. Cooked up a few shrimp for protein, and that was dinner. Very tasty, and crazy low in points.

  2. what about a fiber one english muffin? or some egg whites with reduced fat cheese?

the squash sounds amazing, though - i'll have to try it out!

  3. I do like english muffins and egg whites. I guess the REAL problem is me getting up in time to eat before I have to go to work (hence the carnation, which I keep at work).

  4. you could make the egg whites the night before and then heat them up in the microwave at work the next morning.

why aren't donuts fat and calorie free is the bigger question here...

  5. That IS a good question!

Dunkins actually has egg whites now, per the poster I walk by every day on the way to the bus. So, that's actually pretty cool.

I've been keeping low fat pepper jack cheese and thin-sliced ham at work for snacks, but I bet with some sandwich thins that could be an ok breakfast.
